William Dykeman

William A. Dykeman has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1973 and the Kentucky Bar since 1974. He was a founding partner of the Lexington, Kentucky firm Clay, Dykeman, Gartland and Watts in 1976, and later opened a branch office of the firm in Winchester, Kentucky.

 

In 1985, Bill began practicing with Henry L. Rosenthal, Jr. and, in 1990, Dykeman & Rosenthal moved their offices to the historic William Hickman House, Winchester, Kentucky. Bill concentrates his practice in the areas of litigation, both civil and criminal, in state and federal courts. He served several years as an adjunct professor at the University of Kentucky College of Law teaching litigation skills and, for a decade, taught a nine-day intensive course on trial advocacy to practicing attorneys.

 

In addition, Bill serves as a civil mediator. As a frequent seminar participant, Bill has been a seminar speaker on the subjects of evidence presentation, litigation tactics and equine law. He has served as president of the Clark County Bar Association and chairman of the Equine Law Section of the Kentucky Bar Association, and has long been rated by his peers as a Martindale Hubble AV Preeminent 5.0 out of 5 “Peer Review Rated” lawyer. This designation certifies a lawyer as having the “Highest Rating in Legal Ability and Ethical Standards.”

 

From 1999 to present, Bill has represented Winchester, Kentucky, as City Attorney. In this municipal law capacity he is responsible for all of the legal needs of the City which include employment/labor law, real property, commercial litigation, governmental/administrative practice, contract law, and serves as counsel to police, firefighter and EMS personnel.
